GRANVILLE ISLAND BREWING
Granville Island Brewing Company designed a beer to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Emily Carr University of Art and Design. The identity needed to reach two distinct target markets: art students from the school and 40 – 60 year old males. In order to reach such a diverse audience a typographic approach was selected using printing with wood block type. The gentle more subtle name choice of “Emily” was selected to contrast the heavy bold typography. Layers of type were meant to convey the multi-disciplinary approaches and complexity in the work produced by students at the school.
